Position: Junior Buyer Women’s / Kids Clothing & Gift

Summary and Key Responsibilities:

The Junior Buyer role is an exciting opportunity to be responsible for the selection, acquisition, merchandising, marketing and ecommerce for our Women’s, Kids’ Clothing & Gift lines. As part of the retail team you will provide outstanding service and innovative solutions to help effectively grow these businesses.

Key Responsibilities include:
• Your success in this role will be measured by your ability increase sales and gross margin, while managing inventory levels.
• You will work directly with our vendors to select product, negotiate costs, decide on quantities, create and track purchase orders, and set prices.
• Together with the buying and marketing teams you will assist in the development of promotional and ecommerce plans for your lines.
• You will work with the store management team to ensure your lines are properly displayed and merchandised in our stores.
• Together with the Sr. Manager, Buying you will acquire new vendors and develop new product categories to support our retail strategy, and develop decorated apparel product lines for in-house production.
• You will negotiate coop support and discounts from suppliers to fund marketing initiatives and markdowns.
• During convocation events you will insure the Gift table is properly stocked and merchandised, and that retail event staff are familiar with the product.
• You increase your knowledge of industry trends and practices through contact with supplier representatives, attendance at conferences, trade shows and through independent research.
• You will participate in special projects and perform other duties that support the buying team and the Retail division.

Education, Qualifications and Experience:

• You have a post-secondary education in business, marketing, retail management or buying.
• At least 3 years retail experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:

• Ability to analyze sales, costs and inventory levels with sound logic and attention to detail.
• Aptitude for retail display and merchandising, and good knowledge of these product lines.
• Strong interpersonal and communications skill, with the ability to thrive in a team environment.
• Proficiency with MS Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• A good fit with our core values of respect, innovation and accountability.
