Tips for Staying Human During Residency Training - Part 2
Dr. Allan Peterkin's Staying Human During Residency Training: How to Survive and Thrive after Medical School was recently released in its 6th edition. It is the ultimate survival guide for medical students, interns, residents, and fellows, providing time-tested advice and the latest information on every aspect of a residents life from choosing a residency program, to coping with stress, enhancing self-care, and protecting personal and professional relationships. For this 3 part series, Dr. Peterkin has provided us with tips from his book, and information on why they are important.

UTP Books on "The Hill Times List of Best Books in 2016"
If any of you are readers of The Hill Times you will know that every year they do a feature on the best book of the year. This year, we were thrilled and honoured to see that of the 100 books listed, 24 of them were University of Toronto Press titles! It is wonderful to be listed so often and to be in the company of the other notable presses that can be found on the list.

Product Photographer, Marketing
In this entry level position, you will be responsible for taking product photos in our in-house studio for use on our website as well as in other media for the Retail Division. Under the direction of the Marketing Manager/Designer, you will prepare items for photography, take and edit photos, and perform other duties to assist the marketing team, including occasional graphic design work.

Key Responsibilities include:
1. Photography - Takes product and lifestyle photos intended for use on the web or in print.
2. Photo editing – Edits photos using Lightroom and Photoshop to colour correct and isolates images.
3. Marketing Design –Will support the marketing design team with creation of instore templates, emails, signage and other materials as required.
4. Teamwork – Supports the marketing team in a creative and collaborative way.
5. Undertakes and participates in special projects and other duties as assigned.


• Post-secondary degree/diploma in photography or a related field
• Product photography experience and up to three years of experience with other types of photography
• Advanced understanding of Lightroom and Photoshop
• Knowledge and/or experience with graphic design using InDesign and Illustrator


• Strong working knowledge of photography with fx DSLR cameras and basic knowledge of lighting setups
• Comfortable working with and directing models
• Familiar with highlight features of products in photos
• Proficient using naming conventions and metadata and working knowledge of Lightroom catalogues
• Ability to do colour corrections, adjustments and isolation using the pen tool, as well as the ability to create and export a variety of sizes for different media
• You have an ability to work as a team player
• Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
• Strong communication skills
• Attention to detail; confidence under pressure
